In our last reading we found the young man, St. Benedict, in his cave at Subiaco where he spent three years. We take a momentary break from the Dialogues of Pope St. Gregory. Watch Mother Dolores read a reflection on St. Benedict by Abbot Cuthbert Butler of Downside Abbey in England. In 1901 very early one morning Abbot Butler was looking out of a cave and suddenly he was brought back fourteen centuries...

And as the features of the landscape gradually took shape, my thoughts went back to a youth who just fourteen centuries before had passed the years of opening manhood in that cave...
